Can you color synthetic hair is an important question for a lot of people as many synthetic wigs are quite expensive and precious, and damaging them is never pleasant. So, can you do it?

Technically, yes, you can – you can dye any synthetic wig in any color you want. Should you do it, however, is a different question. If your synthetic wig isn’t particularly expensive if it’s not your only one, and if you don’t care too much what happens to it – sure, do whatever you want with it. If your wig is expensive and of a high quality, however, you might want to think twice about it.

Our natural hair grows constantly and even when we damage it, color it in a horrible color, or outright cut it all off, after a while, it will grow back completely. Wigs, on the other hand, whether synthetic or natural, obviously don’t grow. So, why risk ruining something that will be irreparable? Even if you use the mildest and easiest to wash away temporary dye, you’re still risking damage that might be irreversible.

A much better alternative is to simply buy several different wigs – this way you can change your appearances however you want without ruining anything. And if you just want something cheeky for a party, there are many cheap and affordable synthetic wigs that can be almost as affordable as the dye you were going to use on your main high-quality wig and the time you were going to put in the whole process.
